what's new in hermes agent v0.22.0
key improvements:
- easier setup: the desktop app offers a free trial model and guides new users through setup without requiring an api key.
- app integrations: hermes connects to gmail, linear, notion and other services. it supports multiple accounts and can set up local models based on available hardware.
- 600 verified plugins: the catalog includes service integrations and memory providers, with each plugin pinned to a verified commit.
- improved reliability: stable versioned releases, signed windows and macos packages, safer updates and recovery from temporary provider errors.
- more control: bot screen lets users watch an agent work on a remote desktop and take over during logins, 2fa or captcha challenges. users can also monitor and stop subagents.
- broader model support: the release adds newer claude, gpt and gemini models and preserves reasoning across sessions.
- smaller codebase: the codebase shrank by 34%, from around 1.06 million to 698,000 lines. rarely used tools now load on demand, reducing the size of tool definitions sent with each request.
hermes agent is becoming more accessible to users who don't want to deal with api keys, manual setup or complex configuration. the focus of this release is making autonomous agents easier to use and more reliable in everyday workflows.
